the queen's quest
After traveling through the Otherworld to the Queen’s castle, Cail manages to secure an audience with the Queen. She explains her situation and is prepared to strike a deal. The Faerie Queen tells her that she will let Cail go if she completes her quest: Cail must find and bring four rare treasures back to the Queen. The treasures are scattered across the realm in unknown locations, each likely guarded by dangerous beasts. Cail has until Beltane, a festival marking the beginning of summer, to complete the quest, as that liminal time will make it easier for the Queen to open up the portal. If Cail fails, she will be trapped in the Otherworld and eventually become a faerie herself.

An undead dog-like creature that lost its eyes long ago. It uses echolocation to search for intruders in its territory, eager for its next meal. You must hide and stay still by the third bark of the Cu Sith or be caught it its fierce jaws.
It is also known as a witch stone, adderstane, or druid’s glass.
A precious stone with a natural hole through it. Looking through the hole in the stone allows you to see through illusions and helps you find secrets.

Part of a larger mountain range, this unnamed mountain is covered with lots of tinys rocks, one of which is the the first treasure, the hagstone. It is also home to the Cu Sith. Making too much noise walking on the rocks or through the many small streams on the mountain can alert it to your location.

The gold coins lying around might also be useful.
A shining decorated dagger, somehow untouched by time and weather. Its companions have not fared quite as well. As you use this dagger, you will find its blade never rusts or dulls.

An extremely territorial faerie who has been living in the long-ruined castle. Incredibly dangerous, the Redcap dyes its cap in the blood of trespassers. You must search the castle while avoiding the large rocks being thrown by the Redcap, as well as old traps hidden throughout the castle.
Nearby a ruined castle lies a large lake, covered in fog. On the foggiest days, you might be able to find a merrow, a type of faerie that looks half human and half fish. If you can strike a deal with one, you might be able to get your hands on their magical cap, which allows them to go between land and water. Who knows what you can find underwater?

An ancient overgrown castle that was once home to the fae royal family. Surrounded by mountains on one side and sheer cliffs on another, it was in a strong defensive position. It’s unknown why the castle has fallen into ruin. Long after the original inhabitants left, the Redcap claimed it as its territory.

An ornate decorated bell that can be found hanging from the neck of the Cait Sith. Its eerie ringing can be used to ward off faeries.

The death of the faerie trapped in the mines lures out the Cait Sith, a giant cat-like creature who steals people’s souls. You must distract and play with it so that it won’t steal your soul as well. If you can tire it out, you might be able to take the bell off of its neck.

Connected to the town is a maze of mines, blocked off by a faerie known as the Cobblynau. The Cobblynau demands payment for entrance to the mines, but in exchange he will give you a map so you won’t lose your way.
Within the mines, you find an injured faerie trapped under a collapsed section of the tunnel. Despite your best efforts, the faerie dies from their injuries.

A pearlescent chalice with a strangely patterned glass top. It belongs to the Mither, the spirit of summer who resides under the sea. You must find an item that will allow you to traverse the depths of the sea to acquire this treasure.

Every spring and autumn, the Mither fights against Teran, the spirit of winter. Their battles create turbulent weather in the sea. If you can help the Mither in her battle, she might just give you something in return.
